Rowan Flagship Store

Ippikin is an independent yarn store nestled in the heart of an historic Shropshire market town. We have been on Much Wenlock High Street for over 15 years now and are surrounded by the beautiful Shropshire Hills. Our joy is bringing the most inspiring yarn, patterns and books to our brilliant customers, and being inspired by what everyone makes – you can’t beat a bit of show and tell. The name of the shop, Ippikin, comes from an old folk tale told in Shropshire, about a highway bandit who would rob jewels and gold on the road next to Ippikin Rock. It was said when the bandit died, that the cave he stored the treasures in was never found, Ippikin is this cave - well so we like to think. Nothing can beat the sweet shop like feel of a yarn store and the colour range that comes with each season.

We aim to help with advice on choosing yarn and patterns, trying to find something that suits a range of ages and styles is so important and ensuring our customers leave happy, inspired and feeling creative. We’re here to help!

We feel very lucky and blessed to be a Rowan Flagship store, our love for Rowan and their modern and stylish designs is what got me into knitting all those years ago, and here I am still knitting in Rowan and feeling inspired and excited with every launch.

What we think that everyone treasures about Ippikin is the social side of the shop – the Knit and Natter and Craft and Chat groups that we hold bring in people of all ages and abilities. It’s great to see knitters sharing knowledge and helping each other out! We have workshops on a regular basis and have been lucky enough to have some of the amazing Rowan Designers in store for events and exclusive workshops. One of our latest triumphs has been our virtual knit and crochet alongs for all levels. The customers who have been kind enough to share their journey of getting into knitting and crochet have kept me inspired and meant that I always look forward to heading into the shop each day.
