This season's knits are influenced by natural landscapes and traditional techniques. Trends for the new season embraces the hand crafted idea by offering rustic and textured designs as well as modern and clean garments and shapes. Rowan is promoting two stories to reflect these trends for Spring/Summer 2015, 'Daydream' and 'Relic'. Daydream is a collection of soft feminine knits inspired by a delicate romantic mood, whereas Relic is a carefree collection of casual knits, inspired by the past with colours and textures found within ancient cultures. The 'Essentials' collection takes a new direction this season by concentrating on another major trend, Demin, whilst still promoting the key shapes of the season.
Winter 2015 is an exciting knitwear season with many catwalk collections showcasing knits as the main feature. The emphasis on yarns are brushed finishes, soft wools, mohairs and furs creating soft touch fabrics. To reflect the seasons trends Rowan are promoting Tranquil, Frost and of course the Essentials collection showcasing the key shapes for the season.
The new season is a season of contrasts - contrasts between the natural environment and the latest technological advances.
Inspirations for Spring 2013 are pulled from the fragility of blossoms and the fresh new growth that the sun encourages to the abundance of the summer flowers that follow.
As a bold contrast, the digital age inspires an optimistic approach to life as we look forward to the future and the promises that new technology can bring. Pixilated pattern, optical geometrics and sharp modern graphics combine to inspire with the work of the Bauhaus and artists such as Paul Klee, Piet Mondrian and Josef Albers.
Rowan Knitting & Crochet Magazine 51 sees key shapes which reflect a new confidence emerging within the wearer. The designs have been created for ease of movement and casual freedom giving a relaxed, summery vibe. The fun element is injected with a return to the retro resort styles where pattern and colour explode. The season is mainly understated, where nothing is outrageous. Rowan is promoting two stories Artisan and Riviera to reflect these trends. Essentials is the showcase for the key shapes of the season but translated into more simplified, easy to wear styles that will compliment the season's essential looks.
