It's been the surprise best-seller of the year and after conquering worldwide audiences Fifty Shades of Grey could soon be releasing a complementary clothing line!
As ridiculous as it sounds, the west London author has reportedly negotiated three licensing deals to bring out her own fashion collection, including knitwear, T-shirts, hoodies, tights, daywear, pyjamas, loungewear and underwear, according to TMZ.
It's unclear what this would involve just yet, but readers of the trilogy could perhaps look forward to buying the grey woven tie featured on the front cover and used in Christian Grey's bedroom antics.
Manufacturers have been brought on board to help design the items, which may include the lead character, Anastasia Steele's plum-coloured sheath dress, or perhaps the pale blue shirt she wears on one of her first encounters with Grey.
As underwear is featured a lot more frequently in the racy books, it's likely that they could be on to a winner with this idea, although it remains to be seen what the underwear might look like and how closely it will mimic items described by the author.
E.L James' trio of books have sold an impressive 40 million copies and counting around the world, making the first tale Fifty Shades of Grey the fastest-selling paperback of all time.
This surpasses Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which in comparison had meagre sales of 5.3 million copies.
The books have been credited with getting more people into reading, and while some of the content may be a little shocking for some, the titles are proving to be a hot topic of conversation.
With so many copies of the books sold in such a short amount of time it seems likely that anything affiliated with Fifty Shades of Grey is also likely to be a big hit, especially with a Hollywood movie version currently being scripted.
