Cara Delevingne reveals she is a knitter

Cara Delevingne is one of the hottest names in the world of fashion at the moment - but she is perhaps about to get even more popular among the crafting community.

The 21-year-old model has revealed she likes to knit in her spare time at fashion shows, posting a picture of herself on Instagram creating what appeared to be a beanie hat out of orange chunky yarn on funky black needles.

The image appeared to show Delevingne having her hair and make-up finished off before she walked down the runway to show off the Giles Deacon collection at London Fashion Week on Monday (February 17th), but she didn't post it to the social networking site until Wednesday.

She added the caption: "Knitting is the BOMB."

Another snap showed Delevingne posing alongside Kendall Jenner and Jourdan Dunn wearing a woolly grey beanie hat, so perhaps this was one she had made earlier?

Of course, the youngster is not the first model or actress to pass the hours of boredom backstage or on movie sets by knitting. Indeed, it was something that was regularly seen in the 1990s, with Julia Roberts frequently spotted casting on in between takes for My Best Friend's Wedding.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Courtney Cox also made themselves known as knitting enthusiasts - perhaps it helped to relieve nerves as well as making the time pass more quickly.

Supermodels Kate Moss, Paulina Porizkova and Naomi Campbell are all believed to knit too, so Delevingne is certainly in good company.

You might not be lucky enough to spend your time hanging around movie sets and fashion shows, but this kind of craft could be perfect if you regularly find yourself having to wait for children to finish extra-curricular activities.

Why not emulate Delevingne and try a hat too? Not only will it keep you occupied, but the finished product will also keep you warm. We even have a free pattern for our beautiful Cascade of Bows Hat here.
