Celebs go crochet crazy at Coachella

If there's one good thing about the spring and summer music festivals - besides seeing all the great acts, of course - it's looking at all the celebrity photos to see the latest fashions on show.

Coachella in the US state of California is always the first festival on the calendar and it took place last weekend, bringing the famous faces out in force to lap up the April sunshine, media attention and great tunes.

This year, we couldn't help but notice that crochet is huge news among some of the world's biggest fashionistas - which might mean you want to get your crochet hooks out to create your own beautiful garments in time for the warm British summer weather (well, we can live in hope, at least).

Rita Ora was the first celebrity we spotted rocking crochet, going for a floor-length black dress that had a distinctly Gothic feel about it, but perfectly complemented her flawless skin and dramatic make-up. It's lucky the event takes place in a sunny desert and not a muddy field though, or she'd have been soaking up water from the hemline!

Next, we noticed former Disney star Selena Gomez sporting a white crocheted maxi dress, which gave off a hippy, Woodstock-style vibe, thanks to the bright colour and subtle flower pattern. She wore hers over a black bra top and white shorts, but we'd probably have gone for a nude or white slip.

Finally, singer Katy Perry also attended the festival wearing wool, going for a crocheted white top and a pair of denim cut-off shorts that showed off her great figure.

If you're keen to emulate any of these styles, putting together something crocheted should be no trouble in time for our summer music festival scene. We've got a great pattern for a crocheted Helon dress on our website, which features waist-tie detailing and a fabulous square neckline and can be done in any colour.

All you need to complement it is a floppy hat, sunglasses and the inevitable pair of wellies and you're ready to rock and roll!
