Emulate Alicia Silverstone with a cute knitted dress

Emulate Alicia Silverstone with a cute knitted dress

Clueless became a surprise hit when it was released in 1995 and went on to have something of a cult following, in no small part due to the film's star, Alicia Silverstone. With her blonde hair and iconic style, young girls around the globe were soon trying to emulate her look, which was characterised by pleated skirts and knee-high socks.

It seems as if not much has changed in the nearly 20 years since the film was released, as the 37-year-old was recently pictured at a screening of the movie wearing a knitted dress with pleats. She made her appearance alongside other cast members as a publicity event for the upcoming Los Angeles Film Festival.

Although she opted to ditch the socks, the Azzedine Alaia ensemble she was wearing was certainly reminiscent of something her character - Cher Horowitz - would have worn.

Celebrities including Naomi Campbell and Miranda Kerr have been spotted in this designer's dresses and no doubt if you wanted to emulate your favourite A-listers, it would set you back a fair bit.

Luckily we have a knitting pattern by Kaffe Fassett in Summer Tweed that emulates the star's style, without the hefty price tag. The tunic - which features short sleeves and a graphic diamond look - is something Cher may well have worn. This kooky, cute, 60s-style dress could see you channelling your favourite star in no time.

Because it is a tunic, it could be worn with bare legs, with tights, or if you really wanted to reproduce Alicia's character in the film, why not try putting it with some heels and knee-high socks? This is a very 'high-fashion' look and is not for everyone, but why not give it a go and see what you think? If you are feeling a little less adventurous, you could always team it with leggings or wear over trousers in the winter.

The design is suitable for you if you are an intermediate knitter and comes with an easy-to-follow pattern to download.
