Brad Pitt's latest blockbuster World War Z tells the story of a deadly virus sweeping across the world turning people into zombies.
These are not your average zombies however, as they are equipped with speed and agility, a far cry from the dawdling, "brains"-touting undead that many are accustomed to in films. While Pitt has been fighting off zombies to protect his family and save the world, Kids Preferred have embraced the living dead and even made them cuddly.
The company is launching Yarn Zombies at this week's San Diego Comic Con (July 17th to 21st) targeting the "teen and tween" market. The brand create a range of cute zombie collectibles complete with their special power and features. Kids Preferred has a rich history of creating innovative toys and gifts and makers have explained that all zombies come with their own unique "mojo-protecting" powers.
Laura Perks, co-founder of Kids Preferred, said: "If you think of Monty Python meets the Walking Dead meets Heroes, then you have the essence of the thrilling new Yarn Zombies collection. We are delighted to offer a great collection for a more grown-up market and to give teens and tweens something that offers excitement, assurance and a lot of fun."
Kids Preferred has created nine yarncraft zombies all with their own persona. For instance, FANGz is said to help "ward off late-night woes", ANITA is responsible for warding off the bad mojo which can make friends disloyal she is also on hand to fight against difficult breakups and ill feelings between pals.
ROXY is designed to protect against insanity making sure that her owners "don't lose their head" and keep calm in pressured situations. Even Brad Pitt makes an appearance (albeit probably not the real one) with BRAD and ANGIE being the true love zombies who protect their owners from "achy breaky hearts".
These are just a few of the quirky creations that will be on display at the San Diego Comic Con.
