Without Bradford's contribution to textiles, Britain's fabric manufacturing industry might not be anywhere near as well-known, meaning it's only right that the city celebrates this claim to fame.
The wool trade really put this city on the map, and as UK Wool Week looms in October, everyone seems to be looking to the soft stuff to make their next garments.
An exhibition is opening as part of the Saltaire Festival, entitled Wool Re-Fashioned, which is a collaboration between the Yorkshire Fashion Archive and the Woolmark Company, Bradford Telegraph and Argus reports.
It appears in Gallery 2 of Salts Mill and will run well after the festival closes, meaning visitors can attend until November 11th.
Filling up the space are students and staff from the School of Design at the nearby University of Leeds, who are working in collaboration with the Woolmark Company, an organisation which promotes the industry, wool producers and clothing manufacturers.
Pertinent-wool based pieces from the Yorkshire Fashion Archive will be on display for visitors to see, including all manner of knitted clothing, from haute couture to fashionable pieces and everyday wear.
Designer labels from the 1940s to the 80s will also help fill the rooms, with items from top names such as Issey Miyake, Comme de Garcons and Ossie Clark all appearing.
Everything has been selected for the exhibition due to its link to Yorkshire, with high street favourites Laura Ashley and Marks & Spencer also donating items for the collection.
As well as traditional knitted pieces such as jumpers, hats, scarves and gloves, there will be more unusual items for you to view, including exquisite, homemade wedding dresses, using lace stitches and reams of layers.
