A woman from Penarth Scotland has put her love of knitting to good work, by helping British soldiers fend off the cold in Afghanistan.
Tina Selby has now knitted more than 10,000 woolly hats for brave men and women fighting abroad.
She initially planned to make 500 for regiments in Helmand province back in 2009, however due to the huge demand and grateful response from troops she's carried on the project.
Mrs Selby will now carry on knitting until the soldiers leave Afghanistan and come home, she told the BBC.
She admitted that the knitting was now a "full-time job", adding "but I'll keep going until they come home in 2014".
But it's not just Mrs Selby who is hand-knitting thousands of hats, as parcels from as far away as Spain, Cyprus and Barbados are sent to her every week, ready to be distributed out to Afghanistan.
Soldiers don't wear the hats out on patrol as they're not part of their uniforms, but they like wearing them in bed to stay nice and warm.
The Afghanistan winter is coming to an end, but Mrs Selby said that they were still preparing for the next posting of hats in October.
Speaking to the Penarth times she admitted that she was surprised the idea had taken off quite so quickly.
"When you think that we started out with the aim of sending 500 hats, and last year I was shocked when we had 3,500 - it's amazing to top all that," Mrs Selby said.
One of the most rewarding parts of the scheme is receiving the thankyou letters from troops, which often include pictures of soldiers wearing the hats.
Winter is a great time to put your knitting to work to help others stay warm in the colder temperatures, not just abroad but also at home.
