To celebrate the launch of Wool Week 2011 and support the Campaign for Wool, this year Rowan has commissioned an exclusive collection of homeware, accessories and garments from the students of Nottingham Trent University.
For two years now Marie Wallin, Rowan head Designer has been guest lecturing to the 2nd year students of the BA Fashion Knitwear and Knitted Textiles course at Nottingham Trent University. This year Marie tutored the students in techniques which create 3D effects in knit and crochet. We were so impressed by the standard of work the students submitted that we decided to make these designs our on line collection for Wool Week 2011.
Using our Purelife British Sheep Breeds yarns, the students brief was to create a contemporary interior, accessory or garment design which used some of the 3D knitting techniques learnt and using the British countryside as their source of inspiration.
Ranging from a superb origami cushion to a wonderful felted bag, this collection shows the exceptional talent that is now being nurtured in the UK.
Exclusive to Row@n members only - all the patterns for these fabulous designs are available as free down loads. We hope that you will find these designs as inspirational as we do and that you will help support not only our British Sheep Breeds and our wonderful British hill farmers but help support the amazing design talent that is emerging from our universities.
We have also created an Online Look Book, which showcases the designs and has download links for the patterns.
